White supremacist plans takeover of town near reservation

More on: north dakota, racism, standing rock sioux

A White supremacist has set up shop in a North Dakota town not far from the border of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

Paul Craig Cobb, 61, has been buying up property in Leith, a town of just 24 people. He is promoting his efforts on supremacist message boards and drawing outrage from residents.

“If that man wanted to live in Leith and be a good neighbor and be decent and not push his thoughts on the people, then he could live there,” Arlene Wells, 82, told The New York Times. “But to come in and want to change everything and be the big dog — no. I don’t like bulldogs.”

Leith is about 25 miles from the reservation, which straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.
