Terry Rambler: Tribe unfairly blamed for homeless population

Terry Rambler, the chairman of the San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona, responds to allegations about homeless population:
I would like to respond to comments made by Globe Mayor Terry Wheeler and Globe Police Chief Rosann Moya. Recently, they were quoted in the Arizona Silver Belt as blaming the San Carlos Apache Tribe for the homeless population in Globe.

On behalf of the Tribal Council and the Tribe, I protest - their statements are completely false.

For the record, the Tribe does not have a policy to, as they say, “pawn off,” or otherwise send homeless tribal members to the City of Globe. Actually, the Tribe does operate a transportation program, Nnee Bich’o Nii Transit, which does provide transportation throughout the Reservation, and access to Globe through to Miami.
