Son of Squamish Nation chief shot and killed by police officer

An investigation is under way into the fatal shooting of Native man by a police officer in British Columbia.

Ryan Jacob, 45, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of January 31. He was a son of Gibby Jacob, a hereditary chief of the Squamish First Nation.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of our son Ryan Jacob. This news has sent a shock wave through our family and our community," Chief Jacob said in a statement, The Vancouver Sun reported.
