Hoopa Valley Tribe pushed to distribute $49M trust settlement

Members of the Hoopa Valley Tribe of California are pushing for a per capita payment from a $49.2 trust fund settlement.

Volunteers want the tribe to schedule a referendum on the issue. They began collecting signatures for a petition, which needs at least 240 valid signatures.

“We’ve been rocking it today,” Danielle Vigil-Masten, an organizer of the effort, told The Two Rivers Tribune.
