Cheyenne River Sioux woman launches 'Native Max' magazine

Kelly Holmes, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, has started Native Max, a fashion magazine for Indian Country.

The magazine will appear quarterly. The first issue features model Mariah Watchman, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, on the cover.

"There’s really no magazine, a Native-owned and operated, Native-designed magazine. There’s nothing like this magazine out there," Holmes, 21, told the Associated Press.

Holmes will focus on fashion, art, music, youth and other issues.
