Antone Minthorn, former Umatilla chairman, runs for state office





Antone Minthorn, a former chairman of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, is running for Oregon State Senate.

Minthorn, 77, won the Democratic nomination for Senate District 29 through a write-in campaign, The East Oregonian reported. He will face Republican Bill Hansell in the November 6 general election.

“I have the broad range of experiences,” Minthorn told the paper.

Minthorn said he will focus on jobs and economic issues if he is elected.
