Leader of Standing Rock Sioux Tribe survives removal effort

Charles Murphy, the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, survived an attempt to remove him from office.

After a seven hour hearing, the tribal council voted down three charges against Murphy. He had been accused of misconduct and neglect of office.

“Chairman Murphy is still Chairman Murphy,” Archie Fool Bear, a spokesperson for Active Citizens for Tribal Truth, which opposed the removal effort, told The Bismarck Tribune.
