"Racial tensions have been heighten due to the differences between the City of Flagstaff and the Navajo Nation Human Right Commission, who recently signed and renewed the contract with Arizona Snowbowl, which enables Arizona Snowbowl to access to reclaimed water to make fake snow.

For the commission, this is concerning because it is a set back on improving race relations with the communities surrounding the Navajo Nation.

The City of Flagstaff is schedule to discuss the topic on March 20th, they said the renewal was tentatively and up for discussion. According to the NNHRC, when they learned the contract had been signed recently with the Arizona Snowbowl, the City withheld the contract from NNHRC until a press conference had been held."
