Agreement approved as part of Soboba water settlement





An agreement was approved to fulfill a water rights settlement for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians in southern California.

The tribe will receive $17 million from local governments as part of the agreement. The agreement also details how the governments will pay for $21.5 million in new water facilities and $3.3 million in environmental services and mitigation costs, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported.

The federal government provided $21 million to settle the tribe's water rights.
