Young Suquamish woman wins Seattle Human Rights Award

Heather Purser, a member of the Suquamish Tribe of Washington, will receive the city of Seattle's Human Rights Award tonight.

Purser, 28, convinced her tribe to approve same-sex marriage. She said it took a few years of lobbying.

Purser will be presented the award by Mayor Mike McGinn. This year's other winners are Central Area Motivation Program and YouthCare.

Gyasi Ross, a member of the Blackfeet Nation, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
