Big Valley Rancheria gets outside help with general election

The Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians in California enlisted a non-profit group to run its recent general election.

The tribe hired Lake County Mediations to handle all aspects of the October 15 vote. Administrator Mickey Burke, however, said the results aren't ready to be released.

“The election process on the 15th went smoothly and quickly,” Lake County Mediations President Mary Heare Amodio told The Lake County News. “Tribal members were friendly and were pleased that the election was being conducted by a group that was not affiliated with any particular tribal viewpoint.”
