The Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs has fired executive secretary Carol Harvey due to unspecified complaints from tribes.

Harvey, a member of the Navajo Nation, was appointed to the post by then-Lt. Gov. Barbara O’Brien in March 2010. But she was told she was "not a fit" for new Lt. Gov. Joseph Garcia, Indian Country Today reports.

"I am happy that I had almost two years to address key issues impacting American Indians in Colorado: cultural preservation, economic development, education and health care," Harvey told ICT.

A spokesperson for Garcia wouldn't offer specifics on Harvey's termination but she was told that some tribal leaders complained about consultation.
