Witnesses: Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing on bills





The Senate Indian Affairs Committee will hold a hearing this Thursday to discuss three bills.

The bills are:
S.872. The bill bars the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians in California from offering Class III gaming or expanding the size of its casino without going through additional federal and state reviews.
S.1192, the Alaska Safe Families and Villages Act. The bill establishes a demonstration project for Alaska tribes to set up courts, establish ordinances, and impose sanctions on offenders.
S.1763, the SAVE Native Women Act. The bill restores tribal jurisdiction over non-Indians in domestic violence cases.

The hearing will take place at 2:15pm in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. The witness list follows:
