Southern Ute Tribe headed to polls to choose new leaders





The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado will hold two elections next week.

The first election takes place on Tuesday, November 1. Tribal members will vote for a new vice chairman because Jimmy Newton Jr. resigned to run for chairman.

The four candidates for vice chairman are Corliss M. Taylor, Howard D. Richards Sr., Elise V. Redd and Byron Frost.

The second election takes place on Friday, November 4. Tribal members will vote for the chairman's post.

The candidates for chairman are incumbent Pearl E. Casias, Renee J. Cloud, Kevin R. Frost, Clement J. Frost and Newton.

Additionally, two council seats are up for grabs.
