Hollis Roberts, former Choctaw Nation chief, passes at 68





Hollis Roberts, a former chief of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, died on Wednesday. He was 68.

Roberts became chief in 1978. He served the tribe for 19 years and worked for “increased services and advantages, thanks to Self Governance,” according to the tribe's website.

Roberts was brought down by scandal when he was convicted of one count of aggravated sexual abuse and two counts of abusive sexual contact. He served about 10 years in prison.

Prior to becoming chief, Robers served in the Oklahoma Oklahoma House of Representatives for six years.
