Phyliss Anderson prepares for Mississippi Choctaw inauguration





Phyliss J. Anderson, the newly elected leader of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, will be sworn into office on October 4.

Anderson will take the oath of office at 9am in closed council chambers, The Neshoba Democrat reported. She will then ride in the inaugural parade around 10am, the paper said.

Anderson will take a ceremonial oath of office at 11:30am and she will give a speech. The event will be broadcast online at www.livestream.com/mbcinews.

Anderson is the first woman to lead the tribe.
