Subcommittee to hold hearing on land-into-trust fix on July 12





The House Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs will hold a hearing next Tuesday, July 12, on three bills.

The main focus is a fix the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Carcieri v. Salazar. Two bills -- H.R.1291 and H.R.1234 -- will get a hearing for the first time in the House.

A third bill, H.R. 1421, authorizes the Cherokee Nation to construct hydroelectric generating facilities at the W.D. Mayo Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River in Oklahoma and market electricity from those facilities.

The hearing takes place at 11am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building. A witness list hasn't been posted.
