Tigua Tribe purchases majority interest in minor baseball team

The Tigua Tribe of Texas has purchased a 59 percent interest in the El Paso Diablos, a minor league baseball franchise.

The team reportedly has seen a drop in attendance. The tribe hopes to revitalize interest.

"First and foremost we're going to work to improve the team," Tigua Lt. Gov. Carlos Hisa said, The El Paso Times reported. "I remember growing up watching the Diablos, and we want to make them what they once were. But certainly there are other opportunities we're going to consider."

The tribe's first big task as majority owner is to renegotiate a lease agreement to use El Paso's Cohen Stadium.
