Indian students earn eagle feather and blanket at ceremony





Indian students from the Salem-Keizer School District in Oregon received an eagle feather and a Pendleton stole at a special graduation ceremony.

About two dozen students participated. They represented the Siletz, Nez Perce, Sioux, Choctaw, Inuit and other tribes.

Organizer Shelby Olson-Rogers said it took six months to obtain permits from the . U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the feathers.
