Mescalero Apache Nation man pleads guilty over assault

A member of the Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico pleaded guilty to two assault charges.

Gene Collins Ahidley, 28, admitted he assaulted his girlfriend with his fists, his feet and a tree branch in August 2006. He pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon.

Ahidley faces up to 20 years in federal prison. A sentencing date hasn't been scheduled
