House Appropriations Committee to host Indian witnesses





The House Appropriations Committee will hear from tribal leaders and Indian organizations at a series of public hearings this week.

The Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies will hold two hearings tomorrow and another one on Wednesday to learn about Indian Country issues. Witnesses include Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly (Tuesday morning); Oglala Sioux Tribe President John Yellow Bird Steele (Tuesday morning); Lac du Flambeau Band President Tom Maulson (Tuesday afternoon); and National Congress of American Indians President Jefferson Keel (Tuesday afternoon).

The hearings take place in Room B-308 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
