Ralphj Hannie, a member of the Menominee Nation of Wisconsin, has been told she only has a year to live due to ovarian cancer, but she's still eager to fight, friends say.

So Hannie, a popular bartender in Chicago, is going to Mexico for further treatment. Her friends are raising money for her trip and for other expenses.

"It's always heart-wrenching when someone is suffering from a disease," Sam Hamilton told The Windy City Times. "I want her to know she has our love and support.

So far, Friends 4 Ralphj 4 Life has raised $18,000. Hannie is due to start treatment in Mexico on May 3.
