Choctaw Nation provides assistance to victims of tornado

The Choctaw Nation is providing food, water, health services and other assistance to victims of a tornado in Tushka, Oklahoma.

The April 14 storm destroyed 149 homes and caused damages to over 80 homes. About 2,700 people lost electricity.

“The minor things the tribe can help with like bottled water and food – we are happy to provide to everyone affected by the storm – Indian or non-Indian,” Chief Greg Pyle said in a press release

The tribe served more than 1,000 meals in the first 24 hours after the storm. Tribal employees are serving about 1,200 hamburgers and hotdogs each day.
