The Confederated Tribes of Warm
in Oregon are using a $5.6 million stimulus grant to open a telecommunications company.
The tribe will provide phone service, high-sped Internet and video on the reservation.
"It will elevate the quality of life here for communications and diminish the digital divide that occurs on Indian Country," Jose Matanane, an adviser for the board of the new company, said at a groundbreaking, KTVZ-TV reported.
The company is moving into an existing building on the reservation and should be up and running by the fall.
