Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation worker indicted for embezzlement

An employee of the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation of North Dakota has been charged with stealing money from the low-income fuel assistance program.

Patricia Robertson, also known as Patti Cavanaugh, is the coordinator for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program on the reservation. She has been indicted on a charge of embezzlement and theft from an Indian tribal organization.

Another employee said other tribal members have been arrested in connection with the theft, The Grand Forks Herald reported. But the U.S. Attorney's Office in North Dakota would not comment on other cases.
