Census shows population rise on most Montana reservations





Most reservations in Montana saw a growth in their population in the last decade, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Rocky Boy's Reservation, home to the Chippewa Cree Tribe, saw a 24 percent increase from 2000 to 2010. That was the largest growth rate among reservations in the state.

The Flathead Reservation, home to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, grew by 8 percent while the the Northern Cheyenne Reservation grew by 7 percent. The Blackfeet Reservation grew by a modest 3 percent.

The Crow Reservation, on the other hand, saw no growth. The Fort Belknap Reservation population fell by 4 percent and the Fort Peck Reservation population fell by 3 percent.
