Blackfeet Nation 'in pretty good shape' with more snow on way

The Blackfeet Nation of Montana expects even more snow this weekend after declaring an emergency on Tuesday.

The latest storm brought the snowfall to more than three feet in some places on the reservation. Another round of snow is coming on Saturday.

"We had an unusual amount of snow and an unusual amount of high winds this winter," Disaster Coordinator Robert DesRosier told The Great Falls Tribune. "We've been able to stay ahead of it. We're in pretty good shape now."

The state has held off asking for a federal disaster declaration because conditions appear to be stable on the reservation.
