Joe Antonio Silversmith, Navajo Code Talker, passes away at 86

Joe Antonio Silversmith, one of the Navajo Code Talkers, died on Monday. He was 86.

Silversmith, who lived in New Mexico, received a Silver Congressional Medal of Honor for serving in World War II. He helped transmit codes in the Navajo language.

The Navajo Nation will fly its flags at half-staff from March 2-5 in honor of Silversmith.
