Hopi Tribe seeks to remove 'ruins' from the name of state park

At the request of the Hopi Tribe, the Arizona Parks Board is seeking to change the name of Homolovi Ruins State Park.

The tribe wants to remove the word "ruins" from the name of the park. Public comments are being accepted until March 1.

The state closed the park last year due to budget cuts. But it will reopen next month under an agreement with the tribe to provide $175,000 to the state.
