GOP bill eliminates funds for Office of Tribal Relations at USDA

The Republican budget bill eliminates all funding for the Office of Tribal Relations at the Department of Agriculture.

H.R.1 funds most federal agencies for the remainder of fiscal year 2011. Section 1202 of Title II states that funds for the Office of Tribal Relations "shall be $0."

Among other duties, the Office of Tribal Relations oversees consultation with tribes. A listening session on sacred sites was just held yesterday.

H.R.1 is currently being debated on the House floor. A final vote is expected sometime this week.
