Federal judge won't hear dispute among Snoqualmie Tribe leaders

A federal judge has dismissed a pair of lawsuits filed by former council members for the Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington.

Kanium Ventura and his mother, Arlene Ventura, were ousted from the council in connection with an audit of tribal finances. They face criminal charges in tribal court but the proceedings have apparently stalled due to interference by the remaining members of the council.

Despite a lack of movement in their cases, Judge Richard A. Jones said the pair failed to exhaust their tribal court remedies.

Turtle Talk has posted documents from the dispute, Ventura v. Burch.
