Seneca-Cayuga Tribe planning to reopen smoke shop in New York

The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma plans to reopen its smoke shop and convenience store on ancestral land in New York.

The tribe opened the facility last month. But its tobacco supplier pulled out, forcing the tribe to find another distributor.

“We intend to reopen in a few days,’’ Chief LeRoy Howard told The Syracuse Post-Standard.

The Cayuga Nation which operates two smoke shops in the area, contends the Seneca-Cayugas can't sell tax-free tobacco in New York.
