The Cayuga Nation might sue Cayuga County, New York, for spoiled tobacco products.

The tribe will examine 7,627 cartons of cigarettes that were seized by the county. The property was finally returned on Tuesday, nearly two years after the illegal raid.

"(The Cayugas) will have to evaluate the cigarettes to determine if they have been damaged and if the cigarettes can be sold or returned to the manufacturer,” attorney Lee Alcott told The Auburn Citizen.

The county purchased an insurance policy that could cover the costs of the lawsuit. The tribe's tobacco products were originally valued at $217,340.
