Murkowski campaign pleased as write in votes counted in Alaska
Things are looking good for Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) in her historic write-in campaign in Alaska.

As many as 98 percent of the write-in ballots have gone to Murkowski, according to news reports. She is expected to win the Senate race once all of the votes are recorded.

The "write-in" candidate won 41 percent of the vote on November 2. Republican Joe Miller, an attorney who has the backing of the Tea Party movement, came in next with 34 percent.

It would appear Miller needs to draw 12 percent of the vote away from Murkowski to pull off a victory. According to news reports, that may not happen even as he pursues a lawsuit in federal court.

Alaskans Standing Together, an independent expenditure committee largely funded by Alaska Native corporations, spent more than $1 million to support Murkowski during the race. The overwhelming majority of votes in Alaska Native villages went to Murkowski.
