Confederated Tribes of the Lower Rogue seek federal recognition
The Confederated Tribes of the Lower Rogue in Oregon are seeking federal recognition.

Congress terminated the federal government's relationship with the Chetco Tribe and the Tututni Tribe in 1954. Some members subsequently enrolled with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians when the Siletz were restored to recognition in 1977.

But about 150 Chetco and Tututni want to stay with their own tribe. They have been gathering documents in hopes of regaining federal status.
