Matt Franklin, the former chairman of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians of California said he was stabbed during a burglary of his home.
Franklin, who resigned his post in May, suffered some cuts to his body with a knife during the October 1 incident. He was alone at his home at the time.
Tribal members have accused Franklin of misusing tribal funds.
