Man with Apache ancestry sentenced over immigration charge
A man who is a member of an unrecognized Apache tribe was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison after being found guilty on an immigration charge.

Erick Ricardo Bonilla, 32, born in Mexico and is not a U.S. citizen. He said his membership in the Lipan Apache Tribe allows him free passage into Texas.

Bonilla will likely be deported after he completes his sentence. His attorney is planning an appeal.
