Moapa Band of Paiutes oppose expansion of power plant landfill

The Moapa Band of Paiute Indians in Nevada opposes the expansion of a landfill at a power plant.

The tribe deals with pollution from the NV Energy station every day. "You should come out and look at it on a windy day. It's killing us," Eric Lee said at a public meeting, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The reservation sits adjacent to the power plant. Tribal members want the Southern Nevada Health District to study the health and environmental effects of the pollution and reject the landfill expansion.
