Little Traverse Bay Bands considers change in council salaries
Council members for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan could see a change in their salaries under a proposed statute.

Council members currently receive a base salary of $18,000, plus $17,000 for legislative leader and $3,400 for both the treasurer and secretary. They also receive $150 a day for meetings or training and $100 a day for travel.

The draft statute would set a base salary of $25,000, which would cover travel expenses, meetings and training. The legislative leader, treasurer and secretary would receive an additional $2,500 and council members who serve on committees can receive a maximum of $2,500 in compensation.

The tribe is also considering changes in the salaries for other tribal positions.
