Three Native women murdered in city in Ontario in past month
Three people have been murdered in the past month in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and all of the victims were Native.

One victim was a 16-year-old girl who was from the Sachigo Lake First Nation. Two other girls -- ages 14 and 15 -- have been charged in connection with the murder, which took place sometime last week.

On September 3, Verna Patricia Sturgeon, 30, was found dead in a hotel. Two peopel have been charged with first-degree murder.

On September 14, Keegan Williams, 25, died after being stabbed. A 19-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder.

“I have three sisters and I couldn’t image something like this happening to them,” Joey Baxter, a participant in the sixth annual Full Moon Memory Walk, told Wawatay News. “There have been far too many women murdered around here.”
