BIA holds consultations for Interior Department's strategic plan
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is holding a series of consultations about the Interior Department's strategic plan.

The meetings started last week in Alaska. They continue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (September 23); in Warwick, Rhode Island (September 28); and in in Rapid City, South Dakota (September 30).

“One of my top priorities is ensuring an Indian Affairs organization that efficiently serves Indian Country. The input of tribal leaders is vital in prioritizing the needs of Indian Country and identifying measures and milestones that can gauge our progress as we work to meet those needs,” Echo Hawk said. “I urge all tribal leaders to participate in this consultation through attendance at these meetings and through the submission of comments to ensure all tribal concerns and recommendations are heard.”

Next month, meetings take place in Sacramento, California (October 5); and in Las Vegas, Nevada (October 7).

Comments on the plan are being accepted until November 10.
