Settlements require cleanup of uranium sites on 2 reservations
The Environmental Protection Agency announced two settlements that will require the cleanup of uranium sites on the Navajo Nation and on the Hopi Reservation.

Rio Algom Mining, a subsidiary of BHP Billiton, will spend about $1 million to clean the Quivira Mine Site near Gallup, New Mexico. The site is on the Navajo Nation.

Separately, the Bureau of Indian Affairs will continue work at the Tuba City Dump Site, which is located on both the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Reservation. The plan calls for a study of cleanup options.
