Montana tribe opens doors to $2.7M expanded health care clinic

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana opened the doors to a $2.7 million health care clinic.

The three-story, 23,000-square-foot facility replaces a much smaller one in Polson. It will offer a wide range of medical, dental, pharmaceutical and other services.

"This facility is more than just a building," tribal health director Kevin Howlett told The Missoulian. "It's a statement to the enduring confidence we have as a tribe in working toward our own destiny. Health care is a critical part of that."

The tribal health department employs 146 people and has a budget of $15 million, the Missoulian reported.
