Last member of family sentenced for death of Navajo Nation man
The last of four defendants was sentenced in connection with the death of Garrett Joe, who was a member of the Navajo Nation.

Joe, 22, was a student at New Mexico Tech when he was killed in June 2008. Three brothers, and their mother, were charged with the crime and for tampering with evidence.

"I wish this whole thing didn't happen, but they still have to be punished for what they did," Joe's mother, Bernice Etsitty, told The El Defensor Chieftain.

New Mexico Tech has established the Garrett Joe Fund in Joe's memory.
