Four Native American candidates seek public office in Washington
Four Native American candidates are seeking election in Washington state this year, Indian Country Today reports.

Jeff Morris, who is Tsimshian, is seeking an eighth term in the 40th House District. Morris is a Democrat.

John McCoy, a member of the Tulalip Tribes, is running for a fifth term for the 38th House District. McCoy, a Democrat, is known for helping his tribe with its economic development efforts.

Claudia Kauffman, a member of the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho, is seeking a second term in the 47th Senate District. Kauffman is a Democrat.

Dino Rossi, who is part Tlingit, is running for the U.S. Senate. He is a Republican who has run for governor of Washington twice.
