County votes to pass resolution to recognize Tsi-Akim Maidu Tribe
The board of supervisors in Yuba County, California, passed a resolution to recognize the Tsi-Akim Maidu Tribe.

The tribe is seeking federal recognition. At least three other counties have voted to acknowledge the tribe.

"This is something everyone wants and needs, and that's respect," Chairman Don Ryberg said at a board meeting, The Yuba City/Marysville Appeal-Democrat reported.

Supervisor Hal Stocker noted that the county didn't research the tribe's history. The county passed the resolution after checking with the federally recognized Enterprise Rancheria.
