Yurok Tribe reaches child welfare agreement with California
The Yurok Tribe reached a child welfare agreement with the California Department of Social Services, the second agreement of its kind in the state.

The tribe will receive federal funds to handle foster care and adoption assistance benefits for its members. That means the tribe won't have to rely on two county agencies for the services.

The tribe will develop a Tribal Child Welfare Services Plan as part of the agreement. The state will retain oversight.
