Editorial: Support for annual Time-Out and Wacipi at UND

"Time out for an important announcement:

The 40th Annual Time-Out and Wacipi began Monday at UND. It will continue through Sunday, six more days of celebrating American Indian life through panel discussions, lectures, dance performances, comedy acts and the largest indoor powwow in North Dakota.

It’s the biggest cultural event of the year at UND. It’s open to all and includes events that are both fascinating and family-friendly, including the weekend’s Grand Entries in Hyslop Sports Center.

It’s a terrific attraction that’s worth going out of your way to attend. If you’re a non-Indian and would like a glimpse of modern American Indian life (as opposed to the stereotypical portrayals in movies and elsewhere), now’s your chance, and this is the event.

And the fact that it’s up-and-running this year at all testifies to the student organizers’ very hard work."
