Interior to set up consultation team from 12 BIA regions
The Interior Department will set up tribal consultation team to represent the 12 regions of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Tribes are asked to submit three people to serve their region. Nominations are due April 30.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will select one tribal leader and one alternate for each region by May 14. Representatives from each of Interior's agency's and bureau's also will serve on the Tribal Consultation Team.

The team will spend several months developing a tribal consultation policy that will be open for public comment. The policy will be based on priorities that were set by tribal leaders during meetings in December 2009 and January 2010.
