School on Fort Belknap Reservation rebuilds after fire

A Catholic school on the Fort Belknap Indian Community in Montana reopened the doors to its new facility last month.

The St. Paul's Catholic Mission School in Hays was destroyed by a fire in June 2008. About 100 students were forced to crowd into an old tribal office building but that space was damaged by a fire in March 2009.

The school made do with a cramped space in another church while it awaited the opening of the new, $4 million facility. There's seven classrooms, a prayer room, conference room, a library, a faculty room, a gym and a kitchen and cafeteria.

The old school burned down twice, once in 1931 and again in 1973.
